Loveland Cyclocross

Last weekend I bugged out on Chequamegon. The trip would have been insanely long and gas prices were shooting well above $5 down here because of Hurricane Ike.

I decided to do some travelling to Ohio and do a cyclocross race. Very early to be doing cyclocross but what the heck. Time to start getting used to the new bike.
So a little speed bump came along in our night before the rave. Me, Ashley, and Zach decided just to camp at the race course which was a public park. We set up our tent by the already marked pits on the race course and went to bed.
At about 2am the cops weren't having that. They saw the marked course of caution tape and thought we had vandalized the course. Yea, go figure. After we explained the situation to him, the cop took our IDs and put us in the system. It probably didn't help that Zach was Canadian and didn't have a social security number...It took awhile to straighten everything out.
During the wait of being put into the system the cop told us to pack it up.
He then let us go and escorted us to a hotel. Thanks....After a nice night of sleep, we were up for the race. We headed back to the scene of the crime and started getting ready. I scarffed down some chicken and rice before the race. A beautiful day turned into 70 mph winds and tornadoes not too far from us. My race was rough. I took 10th in the Women 1/2's. Ashley absolutely slaughtered the field and won it. Congrats to her. Maybe she can teach me her ways. I was just exhausted and didn't have it. The one thing I was super happy with was my barrier dismounts and remounts.
The rest of the day after my painfully embarrassing race was spent taking pictures and cheering on the people I know...
...and fixing the barriers that people kept running into.

Overall it was a great weekend. Even though I sucked it up, I was satisfied with our adventures and look forward to the mountain bike race this weekend, and then the UCI race in Madison the next. Hopefully I will pull it together by then.
